Vom 18. bis 24. April wird Havanna erneut zur Bühne für internationale Urban Art. Das GENERARTE Mural Festival bringt Künstlerinnen und Künstler aus Kuba und dem Ausland zusammen, um den öffentlichen Raum durch großformatige Wandmalereien neu zu beleben und den kulturellen Austausch über Ländergrenzen hinweg zu fördern.
Mit INNERFIELDS nimmt das Berliner Künstlerduo Jakob Bardou und Holger Weißflog an der diesjährigen Ausgabe des Festivals teil. Gemeinsam mit zahlreichen kubanischen Künstlerinnen und Künstlern sowie einem Künstler aus Venezuela gestaltet das Kollektiv eine rund 200 Meter lange Wand an der Carretera Central de Cuba, Ecke General Serrano. Das Gemeinschaftsprojekt setzt ein farbenfrohes und nachhaltiges Zeichen im öffentlichen Raum und steht exemplarisch für den offenen Dialog zwischen den beteiligten Kulturen.
GENERARTE versteht sich nicht nur als Urban-Art-Festival, sondern als Plattform für internationale Verständigung durch Kunst. Im Mittelpunkt stehen die Zusammenarbeit mit der lokalen Kunstszene, der kreative Austausch zwischen den Künstlern sowie die gemeinsame Entwicklung von Projekten, die weit über die Festivalwoche hinaus wirken.
Neben der Entstehung der großformatigen Murals bietet das Festival den Besucherinnen und Besuchern die Möglichkeit, den Künstlern live bei der Arbeit zuzusehen und den Entstehungsprozess hautnah mitzuerleben. Durch die enge Zusammenarbeit internationaler und kubanischer Künstler entsteht ein lebendiges Bild zeitgenössischer Urban Art, das den öffentlichen Raum Havannas dauerhaft bereichert.
Die Organisatoren knüpfen mit GENERARTE an den großen Erfolg der vergangenen Ausgabe an und möchten den internationalen Austausch in den kommenden Jahren weiter ausbauen. Das Festival entwickelt sich damit zu einer wichtigen Plattform für zeitgenössische Wandmalerei in Kuba und schafft neue Begegnungen zwischen Kunst, Stadt und Gesellschaft.

From April 18 to 24, Havana once again becomes a stage for international urban art. The GENERARTE Mural Festival brings together artists from Cuba and abroad to revitalize public space through large-scale murals and encourage cultural exchange across national borders.
INNERFIELDS, the Berlin artist duo Jakob Bardou and Holger Weißflog, is participating in this year’s edition of the festival. Together with numerous Cuban artists and one artist from Venezuela, the collective is creating a mural along a 200-meter wall at the intersection of Carretera Central de Cuba and General Serrano. The collaborative project brings a vibrant and lasting artistic statement to public space and reflects the open dialogue between the participating cultures.
GENERARTE is more than an urban art festival. It serves as a platform for international understanding through art. At its core are collaboration with the local art community, creative exchange between artists, and the development of projects whose impact extends well beyond the festival itself.
In addition to the creation of the large-scale murals, visitors have the opportunity to watch the artists at work and experience the creative process firsthand. The close collaboration between international and Cuban artists creates a vivid picture of contemporary urban art while making a lasting contribution to Havana’s public space.
Building on the success of the previous edition, the organizers of GENERARTE aim to further expand international exchange in the years ahead. The festival continues to establish itself as an important platform for contemporary mural painting in Cuba, creating new connections between art, the city, and society.
